1. Bad use of resources 2. Exacerbates police community tension 3. Teaches kids cops are out to get you. 4. Does nothing to make the city safer. 5. Unless also done in predominately white neighborhoods, looks like racial profiling.

You know, if they had turned that into a teachable moment and gave the kids the shoes, it would have been 100% a good PR stunt and actually help the community.

a cruel bait and switch that shows they don't care about helping young people

Has anyone asked why they would do such a thing? I just don’t see any answer that wouldn’t confirm targeted entrapment of kids least likely to afford a defense and more likely to end up caught up in legal hell. For a pair of shoes. That they likely need. Damn right Im buying.

Does anyone doubt that if the police did the same thing in a predominantly white neighbor, the same thing would happen? I certainly don't. Kids are kids. And the police are absolutely deplorable.

This is terrible. People who have enough money to put a good roof over their head, clothes on their backs, and food on the table wouldn't steal a measly pair of shoes. Give the kids the shoes, whether they need the shoes themselves or the $ they get from selling them. UGH!

Wow, what a 'sophisticated' strategy for arresting children who need sneakers. Kids, walk away.

Keep teaching kids to be trash and have them be rewarded for it, then wonder how 70 people can get shot in a weekend.

@Chicago_Police should be ashamed of themselves for this baiting. Bet their kids would have gone for those shoes, too.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
