Weird that John Elway, a known Trump supporter, would blatantly lie just so he can try and make Colin look bad

-
he didn't lie tho....
-
He knows damn well that contract was before the protest began, he chose to conveniently talk around that part
-
right, but he didn't lie..
-
He did lie. Kaep has a contract and this was regarding SF trading him to Denver. Broncos didn’t want to pay all of his salary so they asked SF to pay some and they wouldn’t.
-
source?
-
i see your point. i still don't think it's a lie bcuz they still did technically offer colin $7M, so resolution could have been met by colin settling for less, Den offering more, or SF offering to pick up part of salary.

John Elway didn't mislead anybody. The question was asked if Colin Kaepernick was a potential option at QB for the Broncos' backup spot. Colin did have a chance to be here, but at the time he didn't want to accept the trade. I'm pro-Kaep but the Broncos didn't do anything wrong
-
I believe you forgot to mention the paycut. Which is significant.
-
Yeah, there was a paycut and it was a major reason he didn't accept it. I don't remember the terms that the Broncos were going to give him (whether it extended him or not) but bottomline is he didn't accept it. Regardless, that's the "chance" Elway is talking about
-
Colin's problem after that was he didn't play well enough early the next year to come out as the starter. And when he got in, he had some good games, but there were also really bad games. He wasn't convincing enough to be a starter for another team
-
So then he had to be looked at as a backup. I think it's ridiculous he never found a job as a backup, but NFL teams are more likely to deal with a media circus if you're a starter rather than a backup. It's unfortunate, but that's how it played out
-
Again, I am Pro-Kaepernick. I want him in the NFL and I want him to have a job going forward as a backup QB. But as far as Elway's quote, he said nothing wrong or misleading
-
"Again, i have a black friend"
-
That's not what this is at all, bro. I'm looking at this from the Broncos perspective. Kaepernick made sense for the Broncos in 2016. He made less sense in 2017 and 2018. That's all

he was truthful

Manipulating a narrative is not truthful
-
He didn’t manipulate it. The media did.

From my understanding it was trade negotiation so Colin himself never actually had an opportunity, it was always in the hands of the 49ers
-
that's not my understanding, but that may be correct. my understanding is that the trade was good to go if colin agreed to take pay cut. colin didn't agree to take pay cut so trade fell though. i don't blame colin at all for not wanting to leave $5M on table for 2016 season
-
You're understanding is correct. 49ers and Broncos were in agreement on a trade but Kaep refused to take pay cut so Broncos moved on without him. Simple as that.
