Yep. And that control included money. They didn't want priests having a family because when they died, the church wanted whatever they had.

They also didn't want priests to marry because they would share any wealth with their spouse while alive. This began in 11th or 12th cent.

That's short compared to the ones I've seen. For some reason all the Jesus's in the churches I grew up in looked like he could have been the lead singer in an 80's hair metal band.

Uh where in Christian doctrine does it say “thou shalt not have locks of dread” (just for language “authenticity”)..... ask them to point it out. They can’t. Because it doesn’t exist. Love thy neighbor. That’s it. That’s all the christian standard you need
