I heard her mother in an interview on NPR and she seems like an amazing person. Her daughter’s death ignited a flame that now won’t be denied. I kept thinking (with no disrespect) If you liked the sequel, then you’ll love the original! God bless their family.
Heather was also a volunteer in several of my campaigns for criminal justice reform. It's heartbreaking & infuriating that USA is making mom/dad-heroes this way, but I am in awe of their fight, through their unimaginable grief, to give their children's too-short lives powerful meaning - making a better America for the rest of us.
