3. What we see happening to immigrant families at the border is just another expression of mass incarceration - which we know full well is our enemy. When that system grows, we must always make it our business to fight back.
4. A huge percentage of immigrants to the United States are Black - including tens of thousands, more like hundreds of thousands, of people who've been targeted and deported. Many of the families being separated at the border are also Black.
5. Lastly, solidarity cannot be a game of chicken, where one group only steps up to help when they perceive the other group has done A,B, or C before they support them. We support people who've been wronged, who are experiencing injustice, because they need the help. Period.
And ALL are human
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
Old white lady here. And I care not only about families being separated, but also children being drugged and locked in cages, young unarmed black men being shot by those who swore to protect them, white people calling the police on people of color for living their lives
The black people don’t care about the immigrants situation they should but they don’t
So since they’re black they should matter even more huh? #disgusting
