Shaun you forgot to add their twitter handle @KalamazooPromis ... next who they get their funding from
-
Hey @KalamazooPromis you denied hard-working, intelligent Zaviona Woodruff a scholarship. May each & every one involved in that shameful, cruel decision be haunted by it when awake & asleep, in church, alone, with others, always.

@KalamazooPromiss shouldn't deny people their rights just because they were homeless. A very bright student and strong enough to keep her grades up while being homeless.. shame on them! Let's keep it trending people.
-
Agreed! This story needs to gain national attention until Zavonia Woodruff gets her promised scholarship, right

I'm not American, I found out about this because I like Shaun King's tweets. I can't access their media except the Twitter account. I'll ask them there.

Shaun, I just looked up the contact info for The Kalamazoo Promise Executive Director. B/c this is Twitter: I'm not suggesting AT ALL that anyone troll him. But if enough of us write or call him, perhaps he'll see why this is a huge mistake: https://www.kalamazoopromise.com/home/bob_jorth

Sent my email inquiring kindly wtf?
-
I just did the same.

Homeless and still managed to go to school and maintain her GPA..all the more reason for her to have a scholarship.
-
That's a superstar in my book!

I went to college at WMU in Kalamazoo, the promise was an amazing achievement, but there are a million of these stories where they use loopholes to avoid honoring it. Almost always the victims are minorities or poor, the ppl who actually need it most.
-
I thought as much but was hoping it wasn’t so. So weary of the same ole racism. Loopholes used to keep certain groups struggling, hoping they will give up.
-
I’m sure it’s not intentional, but just your standard situation where your chances of being 100% qualified are that much harder depending on the quality of your school and socioeconomic standing.
