Trump is a VERY formidable, nebulous political opponent and will not be easy to beat in 2020. None of the traditional rules apply to him. And almost none of the traditional rules for who the Democrats choose to defeat him apply. // A THREAD on how to select his 2020 opponent

2020 also needs to be as close to a landslide victory as possible so that Trump cannot contest the election because we all know he will try to do that if/when he loses.
-
Agreed. Won’t be easy

1. Bernie Sanders (5 traits) 2. Elizabeth Warren (5 traits) 3. Joe Biden (4-5 traits) 4. Kamala Harris (4 traits)
-
1. Bernie fits all of those categories perfectly. 2. Elizabeth Warren has the energy and support across the base that unite the party. 3. Joe Biden already has the popularity and can win in the Midwest. 4. Kamala Harris has potential for at least 4 of those traits.
-
Sorry but Biden is not filling stadiums or motivating young people. I only see Bernie as the choice here since he’s already the most popular candidate w Kamala as VP.
-
Agreed. He's popular enough to gain support and can win over the midwest if he can frame himself as a man of the people/workers and not wall street. So far he's doing the opposite. He'll have to rely on name recognition.
-
If obama backs him he has a shot.I think biden and berine together is the way to go if biden wins.Thats the only way to bring both side in the Democratic Party. If Hillary had made berine the running mate. She would have one.the party has the be united on this one.
-
Or we can just not be spoiled crybabies when the candidate we like loses the Primaries and stick together for the General Election for the greater good and to help those more in need.
-
And no more superdelegates to override the people’s vote would help also

Bernie Sanders will be 79 years old in 2020, man. I don't think it's fair to the young people in the party to pin our hopes on septuagenarian and octogenarian leadership when our time might as well be now. Gen X has cleaned up after Baby Boomers for a long time. It's our turn.
-
Bernie is 1 year older than Biden. Also - he represents the interests of young people. Bernie w Kamala as VP.
-
Who's talking about Biden? I'm just saying, Pelosi, Hoyer, Clyburn, and Sanders need to step aside and let a new generation of leadership step up and lead. How do you expect different results when you're hiring the same people over and over?
-
Bernie has a completely different vision to the vision of Pelosi. Bernie is also the most popular politician in America right now. There are 2 years left. There’s no time for new talent to create a name for themselves.
-
Kamala is perfect for VP.
-
How do you know?
