What do you think we need to do to identify this man?

Find the person who actually made the video. Get the date and time. Now go to the businesses in the area along Deer Park Blvd. that have security cameras pointing at the street to try and get the license plate number. Also, if possible, FOIL any public traffic camera video.

Reminds me of the time we were walking home from dinner. I wanted to chase down that car and..... Well I'll just stop there.

I remember feeling scared. I remember not just acknowledging, but absorbing the idea that the color of my skin could provoke hateful/violent acts against me.

That for me was only one of the early lessons I received as a POC. As the experiences began to accumulate, I decided not to stay silent. I studied politics, got involved. And I tell you.. I am still Not Silent, on the behalf of all.

I was a nanny for a year on LI (89-90) as a college student from another part of the country & was fucking SHOCKED @ the level of racism. Every time I saw a car get pulled over by a cop it was a person of color. I kept track.

They also used the word “schvartze” in casual conversation & I got really mad at them & called them out on it. Then I quit. The 2nd family was more subtle at first, but after 6 months, I had to serve @ a dinner party where my “employer” (who was also a total homophobe) grandly

told the guests that he would never “let” a black person buy a house in his neighborhood because it would “drive down the value,” but he wasn’t a racist because he had marched for civil rights in the 60s. I was “naive.” I argued & left.

My husband & I are raising our daughter to loudly speak out against all this shit. It’s so poisonous & wrong on every level. I had to force myself to watch that video even though I have PTSD from child abuse. I wanted to see if I could ID the location. I’m glad he’s been IDed.
