I can see a lot of players taking the Warriors template and using it to their advantage. I wouldn’t be surprised if the future of the NBA is filled with shorter term max contracts. Players have more control

That’s where it’s headed owners are tired of giving players trying to force they way out of situations. So short contract are coming soon along with no more trade clauses for the players
-
Yeah I can see it! Wouldn’t be surprised at ALL

The question is what can players do about it?

Not mad at NBA management. Because at least this is balanced off by players being able to control their destinies from time to time (see LeBron and KD). Nothing like how the NFL uses its players.

I wouldn't mind being "mistreated" like that if I made tens of millions every year.

So many of our institutions are founded on discrimination, extortion and exploitation. Instead of critiquing the ethics of a team, let’s question the morality of the capitalism we support that entitles teams (corps) to turn any and everything into a commodity.

So what about when a player says they want to retire with a certain team and leaves. These things happen. Sucks, but it's the nature of the business. The Raptors reached their ceiling with Derozen and Lowry. They weren't going to get any better. I'm ok with the trade.
