White woman literally hung a toddler with a noose in her basement daycare. Then ran over two men in her van. Guilty of attempted murder. Judge gave her PROBATION. That's it. Yeah. Really. I have friends in PRISON for selling weed RIGHT NOW.https://www.kiiitv.com/article/news/day-care-provider-who-hanged-toddler-sentenced-to-probation/574533627 …

Judge Jay M Quam. He decided an attempted murder of a toddler/ innocent individuals deserved probation. Maybe he isnt in the right occupation, since toddler dont matter to him (612) 348-2040 4thJudgeQuamChambers@courts.state.mn.us (612) 348-5474 http://www.mncourts.gov/About-The-Courts/Overview/JudicialDirectory/Bio.aspx?id=255 …pic.twitter.com/lmWU2c8YFb

Sentencing disparities are real & a huge problem. The solution isn’t getting rid of a judge who doesn’t think prison is the right way to treat a mentally ill DV victim. The solution is for EVERYONE to be given that benefit. we should level up, not down to more punitiveness.

And I know that answer doesn’t solve anything. But I just don’t think recalling judges who don’t think prison is the answer for everything is the right move, at all. In the long run I think encouraging punitiveness actually hurts marginalized ppl more.

I agree, calling for a judge to be recalled because we disagree with a sentencing sets bad precedent, especially if there is no history of judicial abuse. Whit that said, if this guy runs unopossed again in 2020 then something is really wrong.

This is not the best example to contrast. According to the article, this was an abused woman and immigrant who also had mental health issues and tried to seek help but couldn’t. I’m not justifying what she did in any way, but not quite a picture of privilege.

The point about white privilege is not about upbringing or wealth. It's that a person's outerwear eg skin color often gives them a pass where a POC would be treated much more harshly.

Certain people tend to shy away from what POC stress or people who understand the system, and what we mean by Complexion for Protection.

Surely this is a typo .... I read “probation” instead of life in prison for the cruel & unusual way she attempted to murder a baby .... and the cruel & unusual way she attempted to murder 2 adults. God have mercy she walked after all that 😧

How in the hell does stuff like this happen? Hanging a toddler, who would do that? Then trying to kill 2 men. What kind of judge (I use the term loosely) gives probation. The judge telling people it's okay to hang babies, then try to murder 2 people. Message being sent murder ok.

Seems like she was in an acute state of stress, delirious, not ok mentally. She spent 20 months in jail already. I wouldn't call for harsher punishment for her, but instead, demand justice and humane, unbias approach for everyone.

Say what now!!!! Not ok mentally!.... She told the other parent what she did when he dropped off his 3yr old. So... she knew exactly what she did! That parent heard the baby crying saw it hanging and he saved that Baby from death! 20 months is not enough time! Period

I don’t condone what she did at all but she does have a 183 month sentence looming over her head this has nothing to do with her skin color our judicial system isn’t perfect Notjing is its only a matter of time till she violates parole and does more prison time.

You can't be serious, right? I'm going to stay away from one of the obvious factors (uh hum..race), but state that to get probabtion for these acts is ridiculous. She actually made a noose... took a toddler ...and hung him. Like...let that sink in.

Pleading insanity can do wonders for someone who’s sick (I’m not defending her) I don’t agree what was handed down to her but it wasn’t because of race it’s the fact that she plead insanity.
