The point of jokes like these aren’t that being gay is shameful or embarrassing, it is that to these men, that is the worst thing that one could think of them. It speaks more to the prejudices of these men than to homophobia.

Yes, but the intention is a dig at both men who feel the most injurious insult of them all is being called gay and that speaks more to the men than those making the joke
