Seems to me that if police departments enforced a rule that you paid a fine for bullshit calls like this it would shut the practice down quicker than trying to get the folks to stop being racists.

Same here. We have to register our alarm systems yearly, and we pay a fine for false alarms as they cause police to be dispatched unnecessarily.

If I had a lawn and some kid was accidentally mowing it, I'd probably ask if he wanted to get paid to finish the job.

I’d be thankful and offer to pay him. He was being constructive not destructive. He had a purpose and a plan. He was minding his own business! These folks who called the police were wrong!

Here’s how an actual normal being would handle this: You take a cold drink out to the kid and say, “Hi, you’re doing a great job. But you don’t have to mow any further than this because you are over onto my property now — I will mow the rest — but thank you.”

If you make a BS call to the police, you should be given a citation for nuisance calls or a ticket for false report. Make it hurt for them - a fine of $1,000 for first offense.
