Correct. The recent zero-tolerance policy was put into place by the Trump administration. The policy of separating children from adults without paperwork or provable familial ties has always been policy, also affecting hundreds of thousands of children over the past few decades.
Notice that while Rachel Maddow is crying, she is not shedding one tear? I'm attacking the messenger not the message. This story needs to be told. However, Rachel has shown she will do anything for ratings, and this is as close to Glenn Beck as anyone I've ever seen on MSNBC.

Why is it wrong to tear up? The thought of having babies who have been forcibly separated from their parents put in detention centers is extremely upsetting! It is traumatizing to the these children. The president of the AAP has discussed how this causes toxic stress to children.

No. I know that. My point is that.. it is normal to feel these emotions. I don’t worry or judge those who cry in empathy when others are being hurt. I worry about the ones who don’t. Right?
