I see this disturbing refrain that "The United States is better than this" being said over & over again. No. No we aren't. This is an extension of 3 things. 1. Mass incarceration. 2. Profiteering of incarceration. 3. White supremacy. The United States leads in these.

People that say “we’re better than this” conveniently leave out the parts about the foundation of this country and what it thrives on. Things like white supremacy, racism, genocide, theft, murder, etc. America never changed, it’s just that social media allows the world to see.
