What's the difference between misdemeanor battery vs felony battery in Virginia? The minor victim was violently battered by an adult, resulting in a concussion and visible injuries to his head and face. This looks like a case of under charging the suspect, I wonder why?

Active duty soldier - meaning his very person is a weapon and I'm reading he is being charged with a misdemeanor? What branch is he in? I have questions.

Simply being a "soldier" doesn't make your body a weapon. Not everyone in the military has a combat arms profession. Soldier typically means Army. If he is in fact in the Army (active duty) and stationed in Southeast Va the likelihood of him being infantry is slim.
