After studying hardcore data, neighborhood by neighborhood, we learned that white Trump and Clinton voters in California banded together to elect conservative DA's & Sheriffs - effectively voting against local reforms. They prefer the justice system just the way it is.
Thanks for the very hard work you are doing. This is an issue that needs sunlight and disinfectant.
Expect to see more of this. Moderate to Conservative White Democrats will vote with the likes of tRUmp and Schubert more in the future. Esp. the White Male block which is a big part of those who vote in DA races.
Living in CA I can safely say it's much more conservative than one would think. I think white dems see a D and vote for it, incumbents preferred, as they tend to win, so take few chances with progressive candidates. It is puzzling. Voter turn out is very very low as well.
