There was a charter challenge to prevent voting, however, supreme court followed the charter to the letter. Ref: http://www.elections.ca/content.aspx?section=res&dir=his&document=chap4&lang=e …

I feel you. It's like "If you're gonna make me wear an X on my back for the rest of my life, at least let me vote."

If German election rules applied to US, Reps wouldn't come anywhere near the congress majority or the WH: * No EC. No chance for gerrymandering * Voting as easy as grocery shopping. * Election is on Sunday. * Impossible to forbid a citizen to vote. Even a child murderer can vote.
-
* paper ballots * Absentee voting documents are sent to all citizens weeks before election. * Countless polling stations. A queue around the block as in US would cause an outrage.

Anyone that serves time is still a citizen. They definitely should always have the right to vote...everyone.

Absolutely. The right to vote is the very underpinning of democratic legitimacy. Disenfranchising people who have committed crimes is horrible. In Canada you don’t lose voting rights when convicted.

In Canada, your right to vote cannot be taken away. Even while in prison. It is constitutionally guaranteed.

Prisoners are slave labor per the 13th Amendment. Slaves don’t get to vote. Correcting that amendment would be a massive advancement in fixing the voting system.

Almost as amazing as how people can be guilty of committing hate crimes but can still be a cop.

We already know WHY they do it... A growing population of Black/Brown people equals a larger voting block. Forcing people to be minor players in lawmaking is a tactic as White people become a minority. Incarcerating us is systemic. They're smart/evil.

I notice you say "every single American citizen" without excluding those under 18. Are you actually a youth rights supporter, or do you just prefer to ignore the fact that you exclude this demographic to feel better about yourself?
-
-
It's one or the other: either he's a youth rights supporter like me who literally believes "every single American citizen should have the right to vote" or he is technically lying because he thinks young people voting is unimportant. Just a nitpick. Otherwise, it's a good point.

you lose those rights while incarcerated. its part of being incarcerated. see?

Why do you lose that specific right though? There’s no rational reason for it.
