Hey Haaretz is not a reliable news source. Although this sounds like something that would be happening, look at all the PoC in that crowd. Doesn't corroborate. Unfortunately Haaretz is one of the only Israeli news sources that is critical of the occupation. Wish there were more.

It's not Haaretz that's unreliable, it's @Saunking. The article doesn't say anything about whiteness and quotes Mizrachi Jews. King is simply lying. The protest is anti-Arab, and contemptible, but nothing to do with white supremacists.

It's been my experience that Haaretz is not very Pro Israel. They seem to portray Israel poorly at times.

Their editorial policy is very left wing, and borders on Anti-Zionist. Their audience is mostly outside Israel. But their reporting is factual and they don't make up fake news.

Yes, he is. You have every right to be confused, because King is lying. I hope you read the actual article.

That bums me out. I support @ShaunKing and his mission. Black Lives Matter. But considering Jewish people have been persecuted for millennia, much of that time by white supremacists (though can’t forget Egyptians, etc), I wish he understood why his choice of words is hurtful.

Because the protest is about religious discrimination, not about white supremacy. King is lying.

It’s a minor point, but describing Jews as “white” in Israel is truly bizarre. It just isn’t accurate and there are plenty of brown Jews in Israel. American Jews are mostly eastern european but not in Israel. These aren’t “white supremacists,” they’re jewish supremacists.

Like I get the desire to relate it to American racism which is much more about skin color, but it just doesn’t work in an area with such diverse skin tones as the the middle east.
