America loves upstart individuals years after their crusades for justice. America hates justice movements in real time.
It's genuinely baffling to see people who love Muhammad Ali but hate Colin Kaepernick. Or how people hate Black Lives Matter but quote Dr. King and call him their hero. At the peak of their protests, both men were widely hated by millions of Americans.

Perfectly said. Also, Americans are too lazy to seek out the real history of these people, even the parts they might not agree with. The McDonalds/Wal Mart version of history makes them feel good about themselves without challenging them.

You have to understand people C what they want to C. Support for Ali and Dr. King wasn't widespread at the time. Also Dr. King's mission is diluted by those 'claiming' to love him. They support equal rights, to a point. But don't include equal ECONOMIC opportunity.
