The more I speak up for the human rights and dignity of Palestine, the more Jewish leaders ask me to speak out against Louis Farrakhan. I’m sorry but that’s preposterous. It’s racist for you to even ask me this. I’m not responsible for a single word that comes out of his mouth

My response to this is too lengthy for Twitter so I'm going to screenshot my FB post on the topic and then link the article in question. Please read.pic.twitter.com/owl04tR199

One of the screen shots got cut off. Supposed to say "absolutely warrants criticism." Here is the article:http://www.tabletmag.com/jewish-news-and-politics/263136/shaun-king-anti-semitism …
-
There is no one definition of antisemitism agreed on by Jews, and the idea that everything some group of Jews claim is antisemitism should be treated as antisemitism doesn't float. Antisemitism, like all forms of racism, can't be defined that way and stay a relevant concept.
-
Ok whatever, doesn't change the criticism of Shaun King, how he continuously gaslights Jews or how horrendously he responded to the criticism. That's what I'm more concerned with.
-
What are most negative comments against him in these threads if not 'gaslighting' (a term that has suddenly become so common as close to losing any meaning itself)?
-
Did you read the article? She lists very concrete actions he took including defending Farrakhan. I'm not going to engage with you any longer if you have no understanding of the context. You're just blindly defending Shaun King without any understanding of the criticisms.
-
Criticism like that King's friend has refused to condemn Farrakhan so through his friend Shaun King is somehow guilty? That unnamed people have told the writer to leave a demonstration because she uses a necklace with a symbol of Israel's version of Red Crescent? (1)
-
That's Shaun's straw man but it's not what happened. He *did* address Farrakhan, and did so poorly. Then, rather than hear anyone, he threw in "new" support of Palestinians and blamed the recent criticism of him on a Zionist plot.

No one asked that you apologize for "random black folk." The conversation was centered around YOUR actions during the controversy. Ridiculously, your way of proving that you are not antisemitic was to respond that those criticisms were result of a nefarious Jew pro Israel plot
-
After the Christian Evangelical Lobby, Israel Lobby is among the most powerful ones in the US - and to a great degree it consists of Christians, many of which hold antisemitic views; of which you supporters of the Israeli occupation stay silent about.
-
You're doing the same thing I just said was wrong! You're saying we're pro-Israel because we're criticizing Shaun for actions that had nothing to do with Israel! I'm saying it's antisemitic to respond to all accusations of antisemitism by portraying them as pro-Israel conspiracy!
-
Why do you then yourself bring up Israel again and again and again? Because this is not about Farrakhan, a marginal figure for a long time, at all. He's an 85 y/o man who is, if at all, known to people today from history that is long in the past for most.
-
Shaun brought up Israel in response to criticisms about how he gaslighted Jews during the controversy. I'm not going to be silent on how that is dangerously antisemitic and another gaslighting tactic
-
Farrakhan is still influential to people but if you actually read the criticisms from Jewish people, it isn't just about Farrakhan. It's about how poorly Shaun King and other progressives navigated that criticism and tried to silence Jewish voices.
-
A person has to be well into the middle-age to be under the illusion that Farrakhan would be still influential. An old man long ago sidelined. People who come up with these attacks against today's progressives must have been in cryogenic suspension since early 90s.
-
I disagree for numerous reasons, one being that if 30-something Tamika Mallory who has a huge platform still attends his events and publicly praises him for all to see, he's clearly still relevant. But again, his relevance is not the only issue here.http://www.tabletmag.com/jewish-news-and-politics/263136/shaun-king-anti-semitism …

Responsible members of Jewish Communities must step forward to address Minister Farrakhan's challenge regarding their exploitation of Blacks throughout American history. The denunciation game is backfiring; now clearly seen as a smokescreen to evade responsibility & exposure.
