“His life will never be the same.” You know who else’s life will never be the same? The man he killed. Originally one would consider this a fatal accident, but making comments like this after, it makes you wonder if it was intentional. Did he even try to miss hitting the man?
I agree 100%. Our sheriff released a statement pretty much saying “it’s tragic, sorry for What Matthew said online but technically it’s not illegal so we can’t arrest him” 
What is this sheriffs name ? What county is this ? I’m horrified. Was an investigation conducted? What was his speed ? Did they check his phone records?

Wow. I’m glad this is getting out. In my county if a kid is speeding and/or texting and in an accident that results in injury or death, he’s looking at some serious charges. His cavalier attitude is disturbing. I hope the sheriff feels pressure to conduct a thorough investigation
This culture of closed door, what we in my family call “tabletalk” racism is really what scares me.
That’s why they hate political correctness. “Sure uncle Pete calls black people the n-word and kept lynching souvenirs from when he was a child, but he bought me a car when I was sixteen and I love him.”

That's terrifying, I say that as a white woman, I can't even imagine what that fact does to people of color, I'm so sorry.
And then, when they're held accountable, they're the victims.
He needs to be outed on social media with the rest of the racists. Who knew the cure for Racism in America would be Twitter ....but it might just be.
It will never be a cure but it helps to know who the enemy is.....
