I work directly w/ 100s of families affected by injustice in America. As much as I loathe Donald Trump & Jeff Sessions - if I thought either of those men could help or pardon someone I'm working with - meeting with them must be on the table. Some things can't wait until 2020.
I refuse to have the policy of only working with Democrats on essential criminal justice issues. They helped build and maintain the system too.

I think it's fundamentally ridiculous that Kim Kardashian is the person meeting with Trump on criminal justice issues when actual experts exist. However, if she can help secure a pardon for Alice Marie Johnson, then it's a good thing. Obama should've pardoned her.
It's clear Trump only cares about reality TV and if Kim has any sway to get him to release someone from prison why do we care who she is/ what she's done? Prison reform needs to happen. Why don't we want everyone trying to make that happen?

Trump got what he wanted. Not sentencing reform but a photo-op with a pop icon he hopes will translate into support. Trump may pardon Alice Johnson since its Mrs. Kanye asking but it won't lead to any reforms, just another photo-op. 
Imagine the ratings That's all he wants.
We need to consider all the POC who got duped by Trump and his surrogates into thinking he would provide resources to the community. They lied. He pardoned Arpaio and Libbey. Oh and Jack Johnson posthumously. But no community investment. Not HBCUs, nothing.

It's the willingness to work with someone so fundamentally dishonest that I find troubling. In order to reach agreement both parties must be good faith actors. Is there anything in Mr. Trump's personal, business, or political life that illustrates that he is a good faith actor?
