We examined 6 key claims of mindset theory. The strongest association (r=−.12) was in the opposite direction from the theory's claim. We suggest the foundations of mindset theory are not firm and that bold claims about mindset appear to be overstated. 1/8

New blog post - feedback wanted! 🙏 and I propose a (non-viral) copyleft/sharealike license for open research data. Goal: provide an incentive to increase openness & to alleviate the dilemma.

So if isotype "man" is a stick figure with a head, and isotype "woman" is the same wearing a skirt, how does one draw an isotype "person"? Change isotype "man" by putting an Ampelmännchen hat on him? Or use the half-skirt for "person"? Asking for a friend interested in .

I had to get a background check for my job, and it turns out the report is a 300+ page pdf of every single tweet I’ve ever liked with the work “fuck” in it. Enjoy your dystopian bs! *waves*

Am I the only one who’s irked by academic writing advice of “telling a story with your data”? Writing fanfiction about our data is what got us into the reproducibility crisis in the first place. I’d rather have a less compelling narrative than a flowery account of half-truths.

If your field: i) tests hypotheses, ii) rewards successful hypotheses with career advancement, and iii) has no stringent mechanisms to prevent researcher biases influencing the evaluation of hypothesis tests, then I'm sorry to say that publication bias exists in your field
