  1. So far, it looks like Pete is winning the Iowa delegates by a hair and Sanders is winning the raw vote by a hair. Then Warren, then Biden. Followed by Klobuchar but she did not reach the 15% threshold so she will not get any delegates.

Ignore the conspiracy theories please. Remember 2016. Realize bad actors want to divide and create chaos and confusion. Trump is impeached and will be acquitted by a corrupt Republican majority. was a disaster most likely caused by incompetence. Think Big picture.

"Sadly, we lost it on Jan. 31 — when 51 senators said 'To hell with the Constitution. To hell with checks and balances. To hell with representative democracy. And to hell with a republic. We’d rather have a monarchy, instead.'" ()

  7. Iowa should not be first because it does not reflect the diversity of the US or of the Democratic Party. And no state should use caucuses, as they keep far too many from participating

Also in 2012, it took Republicans 2 weeks to sort Iowa results. They fully botched the caucuses. This is not to say Democrats weren’t incredibly incompetent last night. The GOP just isn’t in a place to throw stones

Just in: Statement from the on results delay and reporting: “While the app was recording data accurately, it was reporting out only partial data. We have determined that this was due to a coding issue in the reporting system." Full statement below:

  11. Iowa refused DNC request to switch to a reg. primary. Caucus prevents participation of night workers, elderly or infirm, parents w/o childcare, those who use public transport or who are not fluent in English so caucus-goers r whiter and better off than an already 90% white state.

There's a silver lining to the mess in Iowa. It was always ridiculous to give so much power to a deeply unrepresentative state, with a deeply flawed process (who was it who called caucuses an "artisanal primary"?) But Iowa shaped media narratives 1/

This is a mess and there’s no reason not to say so. But if you’re pushing conspiracy theories about what happened absent any evidence whatsoever you’re really pure garbage.

Just 15.7% of Iowa’s voting-eligible population participated in the in 2016. Even during Iowa’s record-setting turnout of the 2008 elections, it was still just 16.1%. The low turnout has to do with accessibility:

In the 2012 Iowa caucuses, it took more than two weeks to declare the winner on the Republican side.

The need for election night results is driven by television programming. Did we need to know the results of the Iowa Caucus last night? No. But the networks play that crazy election night “Decision 2020” music and we must have a “winner.”

  19. Caucuses suck; they function somewhat like the electoral college in awarding delegates. The DNC called on all ten states using caucuses to do regular primaries. Iowa, Wyoming & Nevada refused. Then DNC said iowa had to release raw vote totals. Iowa managed process & app & blew it

    Poništi
  20. The DNC asked Iowa to primary not caucus. When Iowa refused the DNC required that Iowa release the first and final vote totals. The actual work and the app creation were done by the state. In this case by the Iowa Democratic Parry.
