I'm responding to this from my perspective. As someone w/disabilities having the option of virtual fests has been a life-saver. As someone who doesn't make a lot of money, being able to cover films remotely has been a life-saver. To talk about the sacrifice people should make in order to attend a film festival is just so hilarious to me. We aren't curing cancer we are literally reviewing movies. Comparing that to Mount Everest is such a fucking joke.
I've always wondered what it must be like to be a white man on the internet spouting nonsense w/ zero consequences. I'm astounded by the bravado of announcing that you don't think a group of ppl are real film lovers b/c they can't go to in-person festivals.
Also, the whole Mount Everest analogy fails to acknowledge that there's a whole mountain covered with corpses because not everyone can survive the experience...
THAT AS WELL!! Like my god out of all the things to compare going to a film festival to.
