Assuming it’s because the employees can get unemployment, and then they can hire them back at a later date. It doesn’t seem like under the original timing there was anyway June would work for them. It might be a nice but it’s not selfless they didn’t want to get stuck with a loan

The loan is actually 3.5%, an amazing loan that any smart business would keep. It doesn’t help them at all to return it. In fact keeping the loan would grant more people with jobs.
