Worked with women who were refugees/asylum seekers fleeing US imposed structural violence that exacerbated gender based violence for years and can attest to this. It's not the policies it's the protocols which are normative precedent. 1/2

2/2 If a woman is fleeing violence in home country to second country, and that woman has a child and no money, she will be arrested and given a court date. Children put in juvenile detention or foster care. Unless the woman is wealthy, connected, can afford bond and lawyer.

I would also add without stating who and what programs, everyone I know who worked in foster care/juvenile facilities under Obama, specific to children from Central America/Spanish speaking programs, lost funding in the last three/four years.
