Sarah Mei added,
I’m reading a book about the philosophy of software development rn, and I knew it wasn’t for me when the third chapter literally said “your main focus should NOT be getting something working” o_0
The idea is that you need to be more strategic instead of tactical blah blah the same old “do it right the FIRST time,” like, haven’t we figured out by now that that actually doesn’t work? sigh
Maybe nobody else remembers “plan to throw one away - you will anyway” *waves cane*
Maybe we just need a modern update to the saying that explains that a) you don’t “throw one away” due to inexperience; it’s the nature of the problems we get b) they don’t mean entire systems. Take this advice as small as it can possibly go.
I've always found this just comes naturally. Like I'll have some branch with incredibly shitty hacky code and its just straight up easier toake a new branch off of master and do it again than refactoring that mess into something shippable
