I always write the content of my talk *first* and then create slides at the end to sort of augment it

My strategy has been similar lately. Only instead of "slides", I just put baby photos that go with what I'm saying. (Always include cute baby or animal photos in your talks. That way even if it's a bad talk, everyone loves the cute pictures and enjoys it)
