I wonder how much time would be saved globally if Nokogiri shipped precompiled binaries for Mac and Linux and not just Windows.

Yeah? I didn’t know. Do other gems build and ship binaries built from Travis? I was speaking about this in the more broad sense. Greater than just this issue.
No, Nokogiri is the only one I know if that's shipping precompiled binaries for Windows even. Fast attributes will be shipping precompiled for all common platforms.

Is not easy, nokogiri Windows binaries includes multiple versions of the extension for each Ruby version, and is only one platform. Rubygems is quite limited in that also.
