The other consideration is that not every user in the world is on the latest MBP. Lots of Electron apps perform poorly on lower-end machines. Web apps too.
What ever happened to the electrino project? It used the built in browser to cut some 80% or more of the resource usage. If electron could pull that off it'd be a massive win.
