Today is the day we shut down TLS 1/1.1 (and old diffie-hellman groups for SSH).

I couldn't play Kerbal Space Program this morning because of it. :(

I’m nervous to ask how it relies on http://github.com to play a game

Mod automatically checks for updates, does it by pulling a file from the master branch on github. Does it in Mono which defaults to old TLS verisons.

Yeah, ever breakage I've seen comes down to over-use of github for this sort of thing (mostly package indexes). I'm assuming you've already seen that the Rust package manager is broken on Windows 7 & 8? https://github.com/rust-lang/cargo/issues/5066 …

FWIW, I think a few more (increasing in length) test blackouts would have been helpful. I've seen a lot of "oh this must be what caused that random outage reported the other day that nobody could replicate" comments today.

Yeah,I don’t disagree. The overall impacted traffic rate was low, but that doesn’t matter as much to the folks affected. Our eng blog is where we historically communicate this kind of thing, but maybe isn’t sufficient for certain classes of change. Definite things to take away.

FWIW all 3 of the things that broke for me were using Github in a way they probably shouldn't be.
