You just gave me a half baked idea. If `rustc` encounters >N parse errors, it should just stop and avoid trying to continue to the type checker.

I mean, it is disheartening when fixing an error makes the compiler complain about more stuff, but I don't know if that is worse than showing a miles long wall of problems that might be fixed by relatively few changes...
