When I finally got to the billing info screen it has a giant red warning bubble saying "you must verify your billing information in order to make purchases" even though I'm not purchasing anything.

Does it bother anybody else that installing a new version of macOS requires an Apple Store password, but at no point does it request your account password or anything that should be required for root access?

The high sierra installer crashed and is refusing to run if I try to re-open it. Awesome.

Finally managed to get it to run. The process appears to be hanging. The UI claims that the update is "downloaded", yet a process called `osinstallersetupplaind` (which is not the same process as the installer itself) is doing several gigs of network I/O

Seriously if I didn't know how to check network IO I would just assume this thing is broken. It's clearly downloading the update, but claims that it already downloaded it. How did this make it through QA

I had a very similar experience and ultimately reverted back from High Sierra because it was so damn hard to get it to work.

> Apple encourages developers to use Swift because you have to be explicit about nullity, then messes it up themselves.
