When did medical places in the US start using date of birth as some kind of unique identifier? It seems really weird to me. I don't remember this being a thing before I moved to Canada (roughly 2 years ago)
I'm not saying it shouldn't be used as part of an identifier generally (if this is for medication they are taking your ID either way). My point was more that it seems weird that it's the first thing they ask for.

You could also be picking it up for someone else. ;P Unique identifiers for people in the US is difficult.
