when your hack is so bad that you instantly file an issue about it and feel the need to explicitly explain that it's not someone else's fault
I stumbled on some code a few months back which was such an absurdly bad hack I couldn't believe I let it through code review and then `git blame` showed a commit message from me apologizing about the code and showing examples I couldn't solve, promising to fix it next week
