I agree, but it's even worse to have a "char" type that can only store a tiny fraction of codepoints

C char *can* store a single character. That character is 'Q'. I think there are a couple of others that work too.

Can’t stick it to C. That’s from when ASCII was all new. Unicode wasn’t even comprehensible.
