If I'm forced to do a project in C++or Java and I don't know either which should I pick and why?

Yes, C++ and C are barely related TBH
Or rather -- It's worth learning if you're interested in learning its concepts (mostly RAII type things).

If you're thinking about learning C++, don't and learn ObjC! More useful and memory management is better.
