I think it'd be easier for event organiser to approach a provider locally to the event, instead of every parent having to sort it out
Agreed. I won't even consider a conference that doesn't offer childcare. Shouldn't be on the parents to vet local places.

Rubyconf & Railsconf are both great. Even if it's as simple as "we recommend X company and have confirmed they have space" that helps a ton
