Who wants to go to the pub?

I'm now wondering exactly how pubs differ from bars.
As an American, to me a pub means pub food and usually a patio. You could take your family to a pub for dinner. Not to a bar.

to me, a pub should feel like someone's living room, a bar is a dedicated space to drinking
