The movies are pretty mediocre but I thought the ending was much better than the anime/manga
So they made a live action version of Death Note in 2006. They completely changed the ending and it's *way better*

I highly recommend the spin-off live action Death Note: L Change the World. There are zombies!

They also did a follow up 4th movie and mini-series but they don't appear to be available anywhere yet

Yeah Deathnote went down hill after L kicked the bucket. Much better stuff out there than that ending.
