@michalmuskala Sure, I love the system. But surely something based on an easily measured constant (gravity?) would make more sense

True, and meter is based on such a constant right now (speed of light) - I did an experiment to measure it in my uni class

That changes depending on where on earth you are, though - faster at pole, slower at equator.
