ok, if you look for a measurement you can do "at home" to determine the unit, than yes, I agree.

The nautical mile probably wins in practical measurement with "one minute of latitude" - very obvious on a chart (every ship has it)

It's actually kinda funny. I'm a balloon pilot so knots are pretty familiar, but for me it's arbitrary unit on my instruments
