What is or isn't the most desired behavior isn't always straightforward. It's also not always the point, either.
It's extremely frustrating when somebody won't take "Sorry, but this isn't a bug" for an answer.

@sgrif What do you think about different terminology? Instead of the fraught “bug”, “feature” .. how about “need”, “want”, “don’t want”? -
