      It felt cool & grown-up to own shares in a company. There was a lot of dense paperwork. Maybe it's worth doing once, when you can afford to.

      Betting on your startup equity to buy you a house is like betting on a powerball win. You have about as much control over the outcome.

      Not saying don't work at startups. I 💜 small companies & suffocate at big ones. Just know that financially, equity is risk - NOT an asset.

      @sarahmei It's less bad when working for a public company, where when excercisable you can immediately sell (assuming its up from strike)
