@sferik I'm not in favor. Ruby already has too many different ways of doing the same thing. Grepping for aliases is painful.

@joshsusser In general, I agree. In specific, I still mistype “initialize” all the time, after typing it almost every day for 10 years.

@sferik You know, the Mac lets you create shortcuts with autocorrect. Set one up to expand "init". Way easier than changing Ruby.

@joshsusser Sure, you can fix it in your OS/IDE/editor. But why not fix the language, so nobody has to do that? Let’s make Ruby better!

@sferik It's not making it better, just more complicated. I already have to use terrible regexes to search for alternate syntax.

@sferik @joshsusser that's a pretty silly response. Abbreviating words makes things simpler? No. How about we fix constructor protocol?
