@avdi I think that is an overreaction. #golang isn't a language which strives for brevity above all else.

@davecheney but make adds no new information over and above a literal. It's noise.

@avdi you cannot use the literal form to construct a slice with zero length and a non zero capacity.

@avdi yes, #golang does not have user defined generic types, only the three special types from the runtime, so they need special syntax.

@sgrif @avdi you cannot add generic functions to go without adding subtyping, and that ain't going to happen. so it is what it is.

@davecheney @avdi Can you elaborate on that? The two seem unrelated from my experience with other languages.
