I hadn't noticed we didn't handle this though... We do suggest `self` when you use `this` in a method, but this wasn't a method but a static associated function...

I'm pretty sure you'll have errors so good, if you copy/paste JavaScript it'll tell you how to convert it to Rust
I'm unironically trying to get close to that.
It still cracks me up that we have valid a C-style format string parser in rustc only for the purpose of giving you the correct Rust version of that same formatting string.
I wonder how many people actually learn to code like this. I myself tried to do this with Javascript, but didn't with Rust (coming from C++)
Even if people don't "actively" do it, it is not uncommon for people to get their wires mixed up when switching from language to language. Normally people are greeted with "*buzzzzz* computer says no", but we can catch them in a more graceful manner.
There are lots of things that are harder (or impossible) to do in Rust, but that doesn't mean that we can't make the compiler understand them and guide you in the right direction.
I like how you say "we" as if you aren't personally responsible for 99% of this work

I am *not* the only one though, quite a few people contribute to diagnostics. Although I *am* the most prominent by volume.
