btw, I'm looking for a new laptop. Do folks have recs for a good Linux laptop? I'd be running Ubuntu, and I want it to mostly *work*, without battery life issues

I run Windows, but it looks like Linux should work fine. There's integrated graphics in addition to the discrete GPU for low power consumption

yeah and you can turn it off but it can still cause problems, as was the case on the XPS 15

Yeah I can't speak to how effective it is for that. My guess would be the issues there are drivers not hardware
