What do people use for email hosting these days? I'm changing to a new domain and haven't done this since google apps was free

I tested with my email provider (Hostpoint). Since they're Swiss & support 5 different languages, I thought perhaps they'd allow unicode addresses. I tried your name, but no luck
. Got an error code back.
It's crazy (baffling) there isn't widespread support for this already! -
